Idealworks is expanding the range of applications of its autonomous mobile robot (AMR) iw.hub with two new components: the Pallet Dock as a stationary transfer station and the Pallet Extension as an attachment for the robot. The product innovation will be presented for the first time at LogiMAT 2022 (May 31–June 2, 2022, Hall 2, Stand A15).
The combination of Pallet Dock and Pallet Extension enables the iw.hub to fully autonomously pick up and deposit pallets and mesh boxes, without the use of roller adapters. The docks, approximately one meter wide, 1.60 meters long, and about 30 centimeters high, are delivered pre-assembled, anchored in the floor on-site, and can if needed be directly connected to existing conveyor belts. Implementation time remains short.
Despite the additional accessories, the maximum payload of 1,000 kg remains unchanged. The robust Pallet Extension ensures stable and safe transport of the load. Via reflectors attached to the Pallet Dock, the iw.hub recognizes the station, positions itself independently, compensates for height differences, and is designed for continuous, high-frequency operation. The system is particularly suited for applications where forklifts without roller adapters have predominantly been used.
For the implementation of the iw.hub and the cloud platform AnyFleet in combination with the Pallet Dock, no structural modifications to the existing infrastructure are required. Markers, magnets, or QR codes can be dispensed with, as the system navigates autonomously using SLAM navigation (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping).
According to Idealworks CEO Michael Schneider, numerous Pallet Docks have already been in productive use at Geis Group in Neu-Isenburg for several months. The expansion of the product portfolio enables Idealworks to respond even more flexibly to customer needs and to open up additional use cases.
With Pallet Dock and Pallet Extension, the BMW Group spin-off brings a key accessory to market to further expand the range of applications of the iw.hub and to support companies across a wide range of industries in the automation of their internal goods transport.
